In an era where information is so accessible, presentation is everything. This infographic aims to communicate the history and culture around the sport of skateboarding.
Using vibrant colors and a rough and rugged texture, the piece brings the story of skateboarding to life as one progresses through the decades of history.
Visual Storytelling:
By bringing icons to life, I aimed to make compelling imagery that develops as the reader continues through the decades.
There are many nods to the culture throughout the piece, such as the video camera to capture the photographic side of skating and the intentional use of red and blue, to communicate the police interference in skating.
Even the text throughout the piece is heavily inspired by skateboard magazines and advertisments of the time.
Designing for a Culture:
To truly bring to life the grit and rugged culture that is skateboarding, various textures were used to bring the piece to life, not only adding dimension but style.
The gnarly colors and specific pallete is taken directly from the world of skating, making sure that every graphic pops.
